![]() and also a Friend of Liberty: Caucus Speech My challenge was to visit 29 different precinct rooms (I think I made 27 in 45 minutes). I knew I couldn't spend much time in any one classroom, so it was a challenge to condense my thoughts. While I'm sure that I never gave the same speech twice, here's my basic message from Tuesday night: My name is Norann Dillon and I'm running for state senate to respect your right to make decisions for yourself, your family and your job. Because that IS the purpose of government - to protect our rights. But politicians have been using it to be everything to everyone, which is easy to do when you're spending other people's money and have the short-term vision of the next election. It will take political courage and honesty to tell people that we can't pay for what we want at the expense of what we need. We need to return to the owner's manual of government: the Constitution. The Minnesota Constitution clearly sets the state's spending priorities and authority. I believe we can balance the state's budget and still provide the best public services to our citizens. And by examining the regulatory environment, we can create a business climate that will clear the way for industry to start, grow and relocate in our state. This is the most important issue because the only way out of the recession and on the way to long-term prosperity is through the private sector. It's not a magic solution for the challenges facing Minnesota, just some every day common sense: it's not how much you have, but how you spend it. I will work hard to carry that message to Saint Paul. I'm Norann Dillon, seeking the Republican endorsement for State Senate. I look forward to the next month and the chance to earn your support. http: //politicalwire.com/archives/2010/02/17/who_will_win_the_cpac_straw_poll.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PoliticalWire+%28Political+Wire%29 http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Norann-Dillon-for-Senate/168601565778?ref=ts |
