Fishing

For Poca:

See bottom for location in your area for fishing tips and Valuable information:

I know there are a lot girls and guys that know how to fish, but many have not had the opportunity to learn. In our neck of the woods you will still see the kid with the bamboo pole walking or riding his bike to the creek for a little adventure and dinner. These are the ones you want to follow.

They have a very distinguished look – no fancy equipment just a simple pole and maybe a book bag. (Dirty of course!) What these boys pull from their bags are many colors or flies and spoons. Make sure you have many colors. You can make these flies using yarn and knots. (Girls… Like friendship bracelets but on a hook) Bass are big Hooks #8 Trout are small hooks #14. I am only sharing what I know for sure through my personal experiences.

When fishing make sure to walk along the water to find the deeper green water areas in the ponds, or sharp turns in the creek beds. Many fish hide and eat in the greener algae areas. Once you know where they are you will need to find what the will eat. Bass are the easiest for me to catch they will travel and follow any medium to small spoon or plug, to skim across the top of the water.

They usually like turning shiny spoons (Silver back color have been my best bet) Cast into the shadowy area of the pond and reel in the line slow but steady to create a consistent spinning or dragging motion.

The current will be visible around these areas cast the lure in the coldest water near the current and start to real in slowly. The bass will follow the lure out of the coldest water into the warmer water.

Wow that's a beautiful fish! He's really a throw away? They're all slimey and stinky if they stay out of the water long enough

You can eat them but...

They are not the best fish in the fishing hole that is for sure...We are after the trout this time of year, and the monster steelhead(Trout) still in the waters. They run up to about 40" and are a much better catch!

That's a trout?

I think I need to get out more. Looks like a big algae-eater.

LOL!

Yes they do get alot bigger than that...But it is very fun. They were not bitting, but my little guy managed to get 4 of them that day! Many sunfish and Blue gill being caught, but only 6 trout all day. (We made hotdogs as well)
